Maryland requires painting contractors to have a current business license in good standing. So should you!  Work with established, licensed professionals and check their portfolio of previous work and references.

The painting team should do most of the prep work for the space and the walls, but there are some things that you can do to get ready.

• Remove wall hangings and anything decorative on or near walls that could get in the way or damaged.

• Make it easy for the contractors to move around by removing obstructions.

• Make arrangements for kids and pets, if needed.

• Discuss any other requests with your painter (ie, moving furniture, heavy or fragile items)
